Ma Navu

Hebrew: מה נאוו (How Beautiful). Circle dance by Raya Spivak, approximately 1956. (Some sources say 1957. Rokdim says 1975, which is absurd or perhaps just dyslexic.)
The lyrics are a slight rearrangement of Isaiah 52:7: "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger, who proclaims salvation and peace." The music was written by Yosi Spivak, husband of the choreographer.
Choreographic note: There are (at least) two variants for the end of the first part. In what seems to be the original, there is a close and hold. This is the way Ma Navu is still danced in Israel. A later variation, now danced in the USA and Europe, substitutes an "up-down" movement: up on the toes and down on the heels, the "down" on the same beat as the "hold" of the first variant.
